Overview and Treatment of Body Image Disturbances and Eating Disorders

I will be teaching this course at the University of Denver in the fall of 2015.

Course Description: Disturbances in eating, shape, weight and their concomitant behaviors are fundamentally self-disorders and ways of managing painful and confusing emotional states. This course will discuss different theoretical conceptualizations of eating disorders (ie, cognitive, behavioral, psychodynamic), as well as the diagnosis, assessment and treatment of related health disorders and physical sequelae. Specialty topics include working with children/adolescents, dissociative phenomena, and clinician countertransference as it relates to personality subtypes.

This workshop will be capped at 10 attendees to allow for a focused group process. Please contact Dr. Satir (dana.satir@gmail.com) to reserve your spot.
